22 MayÂ鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University donates over RM700,000 for Palestinian students¡¯ education
PUTRAJAYA, 22 May 2019 ¨C Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University set aside a total sum of RM719,433 in scholarships for Palestinian students to pursue their tertiary and postgraduate education at its institution.
The ¡°Scholarship for Palestine¡± sponsorship mooted by the Ministry of Education is meant to symbolise the solidarity of the higher learning industry in its humanitarian effort for oppressed Palestinians.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Vice-Chancellor and President Academician Senior Professor Dato¡¯ Dr Khalid Yusoff presented the cheque to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the 9th Grand Iftar with the Palestinian community at Putrajaya.
¡°The willingness of Malaysian institutions to provide scholarships for those in need signifies a pact of concord and peace," Dr Mahathir said.
Other than Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», 11 other universities contributed to the goodwill effort, which was channelled through the Palestinian Cultural Organisation Malaysia (PCOM).
