17 AugÂ鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s IET Student Chapter wins second runner-up
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University¡¯s (Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³») recently bagged second runner-up for the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Student Chapter Award this year.
Recognising the contributions of a university¡¯s IET Student Chapter, the award is presented to a university¡¯s IET student chapter that has successfully displayed leadership qualities by organising inter-varsity technical talks, workshops, industry visits and social networking events that promote the engineering profession.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s IET Student Chapter secretary Loh Yuen Peng is ecstatic about the win and emphasises that she has learned much as part of the committee.
¡°I learned quite a lot. To name a few, I learned to organise events, build better time management skills, produce reports and even event proposals,¡± says the spunky teenager, who is currently reading the Mechatronic Engineering programme at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³».
¡°The entire committee put in a lot of commitment and extra time into these events, so this win makes us feel appreciated.¡±
Assoc Prof Dr Rodney Tan Hean Gay ¨C from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment and IET Student Chapter advisor ¨C was also equally quick to heap effusive praise on the win.
Pointing out that the win was the result of the University¡¯s IET Student Chapter continuous collaborations with student chapters from other universities, he highlights that the collaborations provide a good platform for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» students to engage with and learn from other university students.
