Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University dedicates its main library to Former Education Minister Tan Sri Musa Mohamad

KUALA LUMPUR: Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University has dedicated the library of its Kuala Lumpur campus to the late Tan Sri Musa Mohamad, a former Education Minister and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» stalwart.

This is the first time Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» has named a facility after an individual, underscoring Musa¡¯s contributions as Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» University council chairman, Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Group chairman and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Group advisor.

¡°Musa was an integral part of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s growth and he saw us through so many milestones,¡± said Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» founder and Executive Chairman, Dato¡¯ Peter Ng.

¡°I speak on behalf of the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» community when I call Tan Sri Musa a dear friend, a confidant and an ever-present help in time of need. I will also remember him fondly as my best mentor.

¡°His advice was always prescient. Many things he told me came true five to ten years down the road and Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» has him to thank for that.¡±

He added that the library was a fitting tribute as it served not only as a repository of knowledge and history, but as a training ground of the future - a place where students worked to become better versions of themselves.

Speaking on behalf of Musa¡¯s family, Puan Sri Fauziah Shahrom expressed her gratitude to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» for honouring her late husband.

¡°Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» shared a special bond with Musa for almost 30 years,¡± she said. ¡°Both Musa and I knew we had a genuine friendship in Dato¡¯ Peter and his family. We could always count on Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³», just as you could count on us.¡±

¡°If Musa were here today, he would say that he would like to see Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» continue to dream boldly, provide world-class education, and act with passion and integrity.

¡°Though he is no longer with us, his presence will be felt in every life touched, every mind inspired, and every future shaped within these walls.¡±

Musa, who passed away in June 2024 after a four-year battle with multiple myeloma, is remembered not only as Malaysia¡¯s first non-politician Education Minister but also as a man of integrity, humility, and vision.

He also made history as Malaysia¡¯s youngest vice-chancellor when, at 39, he was appointed to lead Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1982.
