10 DecÂé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» in world¡¯s top 10 for environmental sustainability
KUALA LUMPUR: Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» University is ranked seventh in the world for environmental sustainability in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2025.
The latest development confirms Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»¡¯s position as Malaysia¡¯s top private university in the ESG rankings, placing sixth out of 29 Malaysian universities in the exercise.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» vice-chancellor Prof Emerita Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir acknowledged the result and said that environmental, social and governance issues could not be overlooked.
¡°Everyone has a part to play and I¡¯m glad that our students and staff are at the forefront of our efforts,¡± she said.
¡°I¡¯m encouraged that they are empowering refugees, adopting rivers, working with NGOs and launching social entrepreneurships that improve lives for the underprivileged and marginalised.
¡°We have incorporated ESG elements in research and we will continue working with our stakeholders from the industry and society to champion a more equitable future.¡±
She added that Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» would continue driving change through its two Regional Centres of Expertise in Kuala Lumpur and Kuching - centres entrusted by the United Nations University to spearhead education for sustainable development at the local level.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³» has a long track record of ESG commitment. Four of its alumni are Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia inductees for their contributions in social entrepreneurship, the eradication of poverty and gender equality.
